While out and about I had to ensure we made time to vist our dear friend Dennis Ballance, Propietor of Muddy River Shooting Preserve, in Wolf Lake, IL and get a quick pre opening tour of the newest lodge addition the hunt club. All I can say is when construction is fiished this will be a superb spot to spend a little time when visiting the Jackson/Union County areas of Southern Illinois. Not only does the Muddy River Shooting Preserve offer a superb upland game hunting experience during the appropriate seasons, the three bedroom lodge sits in a perfect spot to serve as a base camp for your family and friends when planning atrip to the Jackson/Union county areas of the Shawnee National Forest. The beautiful Pine Hills Natural Area as well as Oakwood Bottoms and Turkey Bayou are just a few minutes away from Muddy River Shooting Preserve.
